Overflowing sewage water on Mohammed Ali Road in Bunder has affected people and businessmen for the last five days.
While the road in the key business area has been blocked, those who are forced walk on this road have to bear the stench.
The drain water has been flowing in front of several shops including those that sell eateries. A bakery was closed on Thursday while Mohammed Tabrez, owner of a fruit stall, said he was closed on Wednesday. Mohammed Zamir, owner of Bombay Lucky Restaurant, said his business was affected as people were avoiding the area because of the odour. The office of the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry was located close by.
The businessmen said the corporation officials were attempting to remove blockage at nights and even Mayor Gulzar Banu had visited the spot.
