The Railways has revised the arrival timing of the Yeshwantpur-Karwar tri-weekly Express at Mangaluru Junction to 4.55 p.m. from 5.40 p.m., a reduction of 45 minutes in journey hours.
The revised schedule will come into effect on June 7, said a communique from South Western Railway here.
Train Nos. 16515/16516 were diverted to run via the new Bengaluru-Hassan line in the first week of June instead of on the earlier Tumakuru-Arsikere route.
Several rail user associations had pointed out that the diversion of trains via the shortest route did reduce the journey only by 10 minutes.
They had also pointed out that the Yeshwantpur-Karwar train takes 1.48 hours to traverse 15 km between Bantwal and Mangaluru Junction.
After the diversion, the train leaves Yeshwantpur at 7.10 a.m., instead of the original time of 7 a.m.
However, there is no change in the train’s schedule between Mangaluru Junction and Karwar.
Karwar-Yeshwantpur Express leaves Mangaluru Junction at 11.30 a.m. to reach Yeshwantpur at 8.30 p.m. However, the arrival of Yeshwantpur-Mangaluru Junction Gomateshwara Express (16575) has not been revised.
