Endosulfan Virodhi Horata Samiti, Kokkada (an action committee fighting for the cause of endosulfan victims) has urged political parties to state in their election manifesto the measures they would introduce to better the plight of victims.
Addressing presspersons here, samiti president Sridhara Gowda K. said that members of the victims’ families would exercise their franchise in the Assembly elections as it was their responsibility.
He said that the samiti wanted the next government to provide Rs. 5 lakh as compensation to each victim and Rs. 5,000 a month as ‘pension’. It should open a day care centre for victims covering five villages each in two affected taluks. There should be a permanent rehabilitation centre in each taluk.
The government should conduct free scanning for pregnant women and should provide free passes to victims and their families to travel in buses across the State.
A member from each family of victims should get government employment. Mr. Gowda said.
