A group of right-wing activists allegedly waylaid and assaulted a Muslim man and a Hindu woman who were travelling together in a car near the busy Kankanady market on Thursday.
According to the police, around 7.15 p.m., A.R. Khan, manager of a mobile service centre, offered to drop the receptionist of the store to her house when a group of about five men allegedly stopped their car near Karavalli Circle.
The men allegedly trashed the duo. While Mr. Khan suffered injuries on his face, the lady suffered minor injuries, said Manish Karbikar, Mangalore City Police Commissioner. While a case has been registered, no arrests have been made.
