The Catholic Diocese of Udupi will be organising its Annual Eucharistic Procession here on Sunday (November 23).

A release by the Diocese on Thursday said the celebration would begin at 4.30 p.m. with a solemn Eucharistic celebration presided over by the Bishop of Udupi Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo and about 50 priests concelebrating.

The Eucharistic celebration would be followed by the solemn Eucharistic procession through the main streets here. The procession would start from the Church grounds and pass through Government PU College Road, Ajjarkad Park Road, Jodu Katte Circle, Old Taluk Office Road, Court Road, Diana Circle and return to the Church grounds. The procession would culminate with the sermon.

A unique float to carry the Holy Eucharist with the Bishop, band, and huge umbrellas would add colour to the celebration. Nearly 3,000 persons are expected to participate.

November 23 also marks the Feast of Christ the Universal King, celebrated in Catholic churches all over the world. It is customary to have this Eucharistic procession in the churches across the world. During this event, blessings of the Lord will be sought for peace, harmony and prosperity and for all in the world, the release said.
