Actor, director and theatre personality K. Ananda Ganiga (73) died at his residence in Kuthpady here on Friday after a brief illness.
He acted in over 800 dramas, wrote two Kannada and three Tulu plays and directed over 25 plays. He was the founder general secretary of Rangabhumi, an organisation dedicated to the promotion of theatre, for 42 years. This organisation has conducted State-level drama competitions for 30 years. Mr. Ganiga won over 25 awards, including the Karnataka Nataka Academy Award (1994) and the Rajyotsava Award (2005). He is survived by his wife, a daughter and three sons.
