An engineer should be like knife: Sancheti

November 12, 2010 03:54 pm | Updated 03:54 pm IST - Udupi:

“In today's world, there is a greater need for engineers to understand the aspects of other fields such as science, arts, humanity, management and others,” said director of NITK-Surathkal Sandeep Sancheti.

Prof. Sancheti was inaugurating the three-day national-level technical fest titled “Tech Nidarshan-10” organised by NMAM Institute of Technology (NMAMIT) at Nitte in Udupi district on Thursday.

He said that an engineer should excel in his field. “An engineer should be like a knife with sharp cutting edge (excel in technology) and a blunt edge to hold it for proper execution,” he said.

To build a stronger nation, a combination of language and logic were essential. Events such as the present one helped in shaping the all-round development of students.

Institute principal S.Y. Kulkarni spoke. Niranjan Chiplunkar welcomed the gathering. Chief coordinator of the event Yuvaraju B.N. gave a brief overview of Tech Nidarshan.
