The president of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Amit Shah would be visiting Udupi on February 19 and 20.

Addressing presspersons here on Thursday, Mattar Ratnakar Hegde, president of the district unit of BJP, said that Mr. Shah would be arriving in Udupi at around 4 p.m. on February 19 after completing his tour of Dakshina Kannada district.

Mr. Shah would be addressing a convention of fishermen from the three coastal districts of Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada at the Malpe beach here immediately upon his arrival.

Nearly 50,000 persons from the fishermen community from the three districts were expected to participate in this convention. The convention was expected to be of an hour’s duration. The president of the State unit of the BJP B.S. Yeddyurappa would be among the leaders participating in the convention. Mr. Shah would visit the Sri Krishna Mutt/Temple the same evening or early in the morning on February 20.

Mr. Shah would address a convention of social media heads of the BJP at 10 a.m. on February 20. This would be followed by a meeting of the BJP heads of the Shakti Kendras of six districts from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

About 1,500 heads of Shakti Kendras would be participating in the meeting. Mr. Shah would leave Udupi for Honnavar in Uttara Kannada district the same afternoon. The party will make all arrangements for Mr. Shah’s visit, Mr. Hegde said.

Yashpal Suvarna, Kutyar Naveen Shetty, Gurme Suresh Shetty, Kuilady Suresh Nayak, BJP leaders, were present.
