Deputy Commissioner V. Ponnuraj has said that families of the May 22 Air India Express flight crash victims, who have not applied for the compensation from the State Government, should do so before August 4.
In a release on Saturday, Mr. Ponnuraj said that the State Government had authorised the Deputy Commissioner to verify and approve the death certificate, post-mortem report and other related documents pertaining to the victims till August 4, which were required for claiming the compensation. The State Government has so far disbursed Rs. 62 lakh as compensation to families of 31 victims. It had announced that the families of each victim from State will be paid Rs. 2 lakh. According to norms, 108 families were eligible to receive compensation.
