MANGALORE An accident led to scuffle between an advocate and a student today with the former reportedly hitting the latter on his head with a revolver and firing a few round of bullets in the air at Moodbidri, about 35 km from here.

The incident occurred near the Moodbidri Bus Stand around noon. The Moodbidri police said advocate Shanti Prasad Hegde was going from the bus stand towards the school of his children. While moving his vehicle in the reverse direction, Mr. Hegde hit a 20-year-old student. This led to heated exchange between Mr. Hegde and the student and the latter allegedly trying to hold the collar of the advocate’s shirt.

The student, the police said, alleged that Mr. Hegde, who had a revolver in his possession, hit him on the head with the weapon’s grip and then fired in the air. Police said the student, who has injuries on his head, has been admitted to a government hospital. Mr. Hegde has a sprain on his right hand, the police said. Complaints are yet to be registered, the police added.
