ABVP demands relief for Endosulfan victims

Several members of the Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) protested here on Wednesday demanding meaningful relief for Endosulfan victims in Karnataka.

According to President of Anti Endosulfan Committee, Kokkada Shridhar Gowda, the spraying of the pesticide in 92 villages in the district from 2001 had resulted in physical and mental deformities in the newborns. “Many live in poverty and cannot afford to take care of their afflicted kin. He urged the State government to adopt the Kerala model wherein financial compensation was coupled with free physical treatment for the affected.
