The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) candidate and former Airport Director of Mangalore International Airport M.R. Vasudeva on Monday said the party would make Dakshina Kannada an important trade and investment hub if elected.

Releasing the party’s manifesto for the constituency, he said the party would create jobs for graduates, encourage small, medium and large businesses through both government and private enterprises.

Asserting that the party was not in favour of Niddodi and Yettinahole project in their present form, he said the party would accomplish development in an environmentally responsible manner. It would improve the Road-Rail-Air-Sea capability of Dakshina Kannada. He promised to attempt to create a separate railway division for Mangalore and end neglect of Mangalore port by upgrading it to handle cargo efficiently.

The party would also focus on agriculture, horticulture, animal husbandry, food processing and fisheries using global technologies and innovative tools and promote exports. It would make per cent export oriented units at Ganjimutt; encourage scientific research; improve National Highways particularly focussing on the roads passing through Agumbe, Charmadi and Sampaje ghats; establish a Human Resources Development cell to help youths pass IAS; low cost housing; and upliftment of disadvantaged communities.
