Children’s Day was celebrated in a colourful manner in schools here on Saturday.

Lourdes Central School at Bejai organised a magic show, and teachers danced with students during a cultural programme at the school.

Mount Carmel Central School at Mary Hill organised an exhibition. Like many other schools, this school relaxed the rule on uniforms and students in colourful clothes explained their projects to visitors.

Volunteers of the Bharat Seva Dal gathered in front of the Corporation Bank head office here to offer floral tributes to Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to mark his 120th birth anniversary.

Addressing the children on the occasion, J.M. Garg, Chairman and Managing Director of the bank, expressed concern over what he described as the waning feeling of brotherhood among people. J. Krishna Palemar, Minister in-charge of Dakshina Kannada; Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, president Dakshina Kannada Sahitya Parishat; U.T. Khader, MLA; and S.A. Prabhakar Sharma, Additional Deputy Commissioner were present.
