The Centre for Religious Studies, a division of Manipal Centre for Philosophy and Humanities (MCPH), Manipal University, will be organising an international workshop on the Rasa Theory here from February 13 to 17.
This five-day workshop will principally include a close textual reading of the Natayashastra of Bharatamuni — the celebrated work on Indian aesthetics — together with the Abhinavabharati, a commentary of Abhinavagupta.
The aim of the workshop was not only to familiarise the participants with the principal questions and debates in Indian aesthetics but also to discuss the philological challenges posed by these texts with experts in the field.
C. Rajendran, professor, University of Calicut, will be the principal instructor. The morning and afternoon sessions will include the readings of the text in Sanskrit.
