The potential linked credit plan (PLP) prepared by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) for Dakshina Kannada has projected that there is potential for disbursing ₹ 10,517.38 crore loan for priority sector activities in the district for 2017-18.
The basic theme of the PLP for 2017-18 is “doubling farmers income”, a release by NABARD said.
The exploitable potential for disbursing loan for various priority sector activities has been estimated under eight broad sections, it said and added that the projections of the next financial year was 16 per cent higher than the projections of ₹ 9,036.09 crore for 2016-17.
According to the plan, there is potential for advancing ₹ 4,778 crore to agriculture sector and for lending ₹ 1,819 crore to the micro, small and medium enterprises sector.
The potential for lending to education is ₹ 252 crore, to housing ₹ 1,440 crore and to renewable energy ₹ 164 crore.
It said that the PLP is prepared with the basic objective of mapping the existing potential for development through bank credit.
According to S. Ramesh, Assistant General Manager (District Development), NABARD, the PLP was released recently by M.R. Ravi, Chief Executive Officer, Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat.
