Every Friday, have phone-in with Police Commissioner

People can call 0824-2220801 or 0824-2220830 to take part

August 05, 2016 02:41 am | Updated 02:41 am IST - MANGALURU:

Every Friday, Police Commissioner M. Chandra Sekhar or Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) K.M. Shantaraju will be hearing the grievances of people over phone between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m.

It will start on Friday (August 5).

People having grievances on traffic movement, sale of cannabis and other problems affecting them can be raised during the meeting. People can call 0824-2220801 or 0824-2220830.

The idea of starting a phone-in facility, Mr. Sekhar said, came to him after attending a similar programme organised by a Kannada newspaper few days ago.

Apart from Mr. Sekhar, Superintendent of Police Bhushan Gulabrao Borase attended the programme.

Mr. Sekhar said that he was impressed with the programme wherein people called to tell him of various issues that were affecting them.

“One of the facts I came to know is of the problem because of sale of cannabis in Shaktinagar. I was not aware of this,” he said.

Mr. Sekhar said that people can call and raise issues that are affecting public at large. “People can raise personal issues but that will not be encouraged.” People can provide information and help police in maintaining peace and tranquillity in the city. The phone-in facility was among the measures that the city police was taking to be in touch with people.
