The School of Communication, a constituent of Manipal University, will organise its annual communication festival, Article 19, here from Wednesday.
Addressing presspersons here, Shubha H.S., professor, School of Communication, said that Bezwada Wilson, Magsaysay award winner and convener of National Safai Karamchari Andolan, will inaugurate the festival in the school lobby at 10 a.m. on that day.
The festival will include speakers from various backgrounds, including Alex Mathew, one of the country’s drag queen, Mo Naga, culture conservationist and tattoo artist, and Sameer Hashmi, BBC journalist and alumnus of School of Communication.
Workshops
Workshops, including one on DSLR Cinematography, by Sripad Sridhar, wildlife photographer, another on journalism by Javed Anand, former editor of Communalism Combat, and yet another on writing tales by Pramitha Nair from The Anonymous Writer, an online tales writing community, will be held.
Article 19 will have a new logo and the mascot this year is Bubbles, an elephant. The four-day festival includes many online and offline competitions. It will end with a Las Vegas themed fun-fair, Viva Las Vegas, on February 11.
Entry open
Entry to the guest talks is open to students of all colleges and they can participate in the workshops by registering and paying for them. Certificates will be provided for each workshop.
The School of Communication was abuzz with activities. From keeping up with the tradition of repainting the quadrangle to suit this year’s theme of fun-fair to making the decorations for Viva Las Vegas from scratch, the students were engrossed in the preparations.
