48-year-old woman alleges sexual assault by neighbour

A 28-year-old woman died after she fell off a motorcycle, driven by her husband, near Bondel Church amidst heavy rain on Tuesday morning, the Mangalore North Traffic police said. The police gave the name of the deceased as Keertana Pai, wife of Krishnananda Pai, an employee of Karnataka Power Transmission Company Limited.

The police said Mr. Pai had come to pick up his wife and their child around 5 a.m. It started to rain heavily as they were passing Bondel Church. Mr. Pai reportedly lost control of the vehicle and the three fell off. Passers-by shifted them to a nearby hospital. Keetana Pai succumbed to the injury in the hospital, the police said.

48-year-old assaulted A 48-year-old woman has accused her neighbour of sexually assaulting her when she went to question his dog eating her hen. The incident occurred in Mulki police station limits on Tuesday. In her complaint, the woman said he slapped and abused her. The police registered the case under Section 354 of Indian Penal Code.

70-year-old electrocuted Yamuma (70) was electrocuted after she reportedly touched a live wire that had snapped near a coconut tree near her house on Tuesday. The Baje police said Yamuna went to pluck a coconut that had fallen down but touched the live wire and died. A complaint was filed by her son Jitesh.

Articles worth Rs. 3.5 lakh stolen Gold ornaments and silver articles worth Rs. 3.5 lakh were stolen from the house of Dinesh, a garage owner, in Ashwatpura in Moodbidri police station limits early on Tuesday.

The police said thieves reportedly broke open the rear door of Dinesh’s house when the family members were sleeping.

Dinesh and other members of the family noticed about the theft when they got up around 6 a.m., the police said.
