45-year-old man commits suicide following dejection over daughter’s marriage

A 45-year-old man was found dead in a forest in Thothady village near Belthangady on Thursday. He died after he reportedly consumed poisonous substance following his reported dejection over his daughter’s marriage to her boy friend.

The Belthangady police gave the name of the deceased as Antony K.J.

The police said he had filed a complaint with the Belthangady police on July 5 reporting about her daughter missing from the house.

He was reportedly close to her daughter, who was youngest of his two children.

The police said Antony’s neighbours found him in a dejected mood after hearing about his daughter’s marriage with the boy she loved. Antony was found dead in the forest area.

Bangalore driver drowns

A 55-year-old car driver from Bangalore drowned in the sea waters in Ullal on Thursday.

The Ullal police said Raju (55) was the driver of the car that had brought tourists from Bangalore.

Raju reportedly accompanied tourists to the Ullal beach and then entered the waters.

Raju was caught and found difficult to come out. and could not be rescued by local swimmers, police said.

Three arrested for theft

The Mangalore South police arrested three persons allegedly involved in theft of television sets, fans and close circuit cameras from a godown of a television company. The police gave the names of the accused as Imran Ifran (24), Mohammed Shammir (26), Ummar Farooq (22).

Gold, silver articles stolen

Gold and silver articles in all worth Rs. 38,000 were stolen from the house of Prashant Rao in Tenkayedapadavu in Bajpe police station limits on Thursday morning.

The police said thieves broke open the rear door of Mr. Rao’s house and ran away with gold bracelet, gold ring and some silver articles.

Man critically injured

Gagandeep (23) was seriously injured after he reportedly hit the road divider after falling off from the motorcycle on Wednesday night. According to Bajpe police, Gagandeep lost control while going towards the Industrial Park.
