35-year-old woman found murdered in Mangalore

A 35-year-old woman was found dead on a plot opposite to a petrol bunk at Padupanambur near Mulki on Monday. Police said passersby noticed the body and called the police. There were injuries on the body indicating a murder. Process was on to identify the victim.

Pilgrim drowns

A 21-year-old pilgrim drowned after he slipped while taking a dip in Nethravati River at Dharmasthala on Monday. Around 11 a.m., Chinnappa from Berur village in Chikmagalur district, was taking a dip close to the check dam on the river, when he slipped on a rock and was washed away, said Belthangady police. His body was found a few minutes later.

Pedestrian killed

A pedestrian was fatally knocked down by a speeding autorickshaw at Bantwal late on Sunday night. Bantwal Town Police said Vasantha (35) suffered serious injuries when the autorickshaw driven by Yusub rammed into him around 10 p.m. at Bantwal town. He succumbed to his injuries a few hours later.

Man arrested for assault

A person was arrested for assaulting a motorcyclist at Trasi near Gangolli in Udupi district on Sunday. The police said Mohammed Hanif, who going on a motorcycle with his wife Nafisa, had a quarrel with a driver of a tempo for not allowing him to overtake. Police said Raghu Devadiga, who had personal enmity with Mr. Hanif, arrived on the scene and assaulted him. Both belong to Naikwadi village. The police arrested Mr. Devadiga. A case had been registered at Gangolli police station. “This is purely a case of personal enmity,” said. P.M. Diwakar, Kundapur Circle Inspector.

House burgled

Thieves broke into a house at Ambagilu in Udupi and made good with gold and silver ornaments and others valuables worth Rs. 74,000. A case had been registered and investigations were on, the police said.
