3 kg of gold seized from two flight pasengers

Gold worth Rs. 93.6 lakh and concealed in household electronic items was seized from two passengers at Mangalore International Airport on Sunday night. According to officials of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI), Abdul Nisar (33) of Kumble in Kasaragod district, and his cousin Fousiya were arrested.

Nearly 3kg of gold was concealed in the form of wires and biscuits in items such as popcorn maker, digital receiver, steam cleaner and car stereo.

The two have been granted bail by the court.

Motorcyclist dies

A 22-year-old man who fell from his bike after it allegedly skid in a corner at Belthangady succumbed to his injuries Monday morning. Around 11 p.m., Surendra (22) skid on the Gerehalli-Guruvanyanakere road, said the Belthangady police.

House burgled

Gold and cash, worth Rs. 23,000, was reported stolen from a house in Thingalady, Puttur taluk Sunday night. According to the Puttur Rural police, Abdulla and his family had gone to the masjid when thieves allegedly entered the house through the backdoor.
