The Department of Health and Family Welfare will be organising the Measles-Rubella (MR) vaccination campaign in the district from February 7 to 28.

Addressing presspersons here, District Health and Family Welfare Officer Rohini said that all children aged nine months to 15 would be vaccinated regardless of previous vaccination status or history of Measles and Rubella like illness. The MR campaign would be conducted in all schools, anganwadi centres, outreach centres, and health facilities. A total of 2,993 booths would be set up throughout the district for this purpose.

As many as 68 cases of Measles and two cases of Rubella were reported in the district in 2015, while 16 cases of Measles and a case of Rubella were reported in 2016. Four cases of Measles and a case of Rubella had been reported in the district so far this year.

Amarnath, V.L. Nayak, paediatricians, M.G. Rama, Reproductive and Child Health officer, were present.
