22-year old arrested after lover’s death

A 22-year-old man was arrested from Chikmagalur on Sunday a day after his alleged lover was found dead at a lodge in Ujire. Bhagya (38) was found strangled in the bathroom on Saturday night. Police said that she was having an extra-marital affair with Balu. According to police they had an argument on Saturday which led to the murder.

Slap of death

A quarrel over a trifling issue led to the death of a person at Nandikur village near Padubidri in Udupi on Saturday. Padubidri police said Yogish had an altercation with Vasanth Devadiga (42) over the issue of a hen around 7 p.m. on Saturday. During the altercation, Yogish slapped Devadiga hard, leading to his death. Sunil Naik, Kaup Circle Police Inspector, said that Vasanth was a drunkard. Yogish had been arrested on the charge of murder on Sunday. A case had been registered under Section 302 of Indian Penal Code and investigations were on, he said.

3 injured in collision

Three persons were injured in a collision between a bus and a tipper at Bastipadaku in Hejmady village near Padubidri in Udupi district on Saturday. Padubidri police said, the bus was moving from Mangalore to Bagalkot, while the tipper was going in the opposite direction from Padubidri to Mulki, when the collision took place.

Two men assualted

A group of unidentified assailants in Jokatte in Mangalore assaulted two men on Sunday evening. Mohammad Mustafa and Asif were travelling when they were waylaid and beaten up by several men in a car around 5.30 pm. Panambur Police, said that the motive is still not known.
