The Mysore rural division of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation is plying 100 additional buses to clear the rush during Ganesh festival.

The extra buses have been running on inter-State routes and across the State since Saturday.

KSRTC Divisional Controller B.V. Srinivas told The Hindu that 75 extra buses were plying within the State and 25 buses on inter-State routes. “If necessary, we are ready to ply more buses,” he said.

He said additional buses were plying to Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, Coimbatore and other cities in the southern States since Saturday. There was heavy rush on Saturday but the rush had reduced on Sunday. “The rush is expected to rise on Monday and therefore we are prepared to run 200 more trips.”

Mr. Srinivas said the KSRTC runs 500 trips everyday between Mysore and Bangalore and 200 additional trips have been planned to Bangalore on Monday, following the demand.
