Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP and former Minister Shobha Karandlaje on Friday said Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s mask has been removed with the publication of the contents of the diary ‘belonging to MLC K. Govindaraj’. She sought his resignation on moral grounds.
Ms. Karandlaje told presspersons that Karnataka has been shamed by the corruption indulged in by Congress leaders, including Mr. Siddaramaiah who is being accused of contributing to the high command to save his post. The Congress has put Ministers’ posts to auction , she added.
When BJP State president B.S. Yeddyurappa levelled charges against Mr. Siddaramaiah and others of having paid over ₹1,000 crore to the high command, the Congress attempted to turn the tables against the BJP by releasing a “doctored” CD, she said. “With the contents of the diary available in public domain, will Mr. Siddaramaiah retire from politics as he has claimed?” she asked.
Claiming that no BJP leader in the State was caught for corruption, Ms. Karandlaje said the true colours of the Congress was coming out post-demonetisation. A host of raids by the Income Tax Department and Enforcement Directorate has brought voluminous new currency notes possessed by Congress leaders and officers, and there is an unholy nexus between contractors, officials and Ministers in the Congress regime, the MP said.
She also dismissed suggestions that the BJP was responsible for the raids. “The fact that the raids brought out undisclosed income and hidden cash proves that the raids were not politically motivated,” she said.
