In an effort to reaching out to the people and address their grievances and solve civic issues, the Madurai Corporation on Wednesday launched its first Zonal Level Grievance Redressal Camp at K.Pudur. Residents coming under Ward numbers 27, 45, 46 in North zone came in huge numbers to represent their grievances.

Mayor V.V.Rajan Chellappa distributed gold for marriage assistance along with cash award to twelve members and 27 corporation workers were given uniform sets. Maternity assistance was also given to the beneficiaries under the Muthulakshmi Reddy Memorial Maternity Scheme.

A.K.Bose, M.L.A., Madurai North, in his address said that this effort proves that we are running a public-friendly government where the arms of the state machinery reach out to the people. He claimed that tax evasion by the public was one of the reasons for the Madurai corporation reeling under financial constraints so he asked the them to pay taxes without fail.

S. Natarajan, Commissioner, Madurai Corporation, and R. Gopalakrishnan, Deputy Mayor, also participated in the event.
