Yagasala puja for the Mahasamprokshanam of Kalamega Perumal Temple at Tirumogur near here commenced on Wednesday. A total of 28 homa kundams have been installed for this ‘Ettu Kala’ yagasala puja, each manned by one bhattar/priest.
They will go on for five days. Other priests have also been invited to recite the Vedas. The rituals will be guided by Sridhar bhattar, Gopal bhattar, and Balaji bahattar. The Mahasamprokshanam of the temple will be performed on November 1 between 8.30 a.m. and 9 a.m.
Among those present include A.P. Ragupathy, president of the Sri Lakshmi Narasimha Apthan Kaingarya Sabha, which was also involved in the Mahasamprokshanam besides raising donations, Rajathi Ragupathy, chairperson, board of trustees for the temple, trustees S. Sudarshan, V.K.P.N. Bhaskaran and S. Jagannathan, Executive Officer of the temple.
Renovation works to the tune of over Rs. 3 crore have been undertaken in the last one and a half years.
