Construction of piers for the road overbridge at the southern end of Tirupparankundram, which was stopped on Monday by former AIADMK MLA S.M. Seenivelu, resumed with police protection.

Assistant Engineer (Highways Department) S.K. Maharajothi Prasad lodged a complaint with the Tirupparankundram police against the obstruction created by Mr.Seenivelu on Monday.

The former MLA demanded re-alignment of the ROB, which was at an advanced stage, so that his commercial building along the Madurai-Tirunelveli Highway was not affected.

On Tuesday, an earthmover dug up a huge pit on the road for erecting a pier for the 650-metre-long bridge.

The work went on from morning till evening without any problem, official sources said.
