With empty pots, a group of women from Mariyanathapuram here laid siege to Dindigul Corporation office on Wednesday, condemning the “erratic water supply” to their ward.

The women said they did not receive water for the past 15 days as the pipes were damaged during earth work carried out in ward 32. Though the residents lodged complaints with officials repeatedly, no action had been initiated, they alleged.

They also barged into the office of the Corporation Engineer. Later, the women withdrew their agitation after Mayor V. Marudha Raj assured them that he would take steps to replace the damaged pipeline and streamline drinking water supply.
