Woman ends life

April 05, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - Madurai:

A 64-year-old woman, A. Nagalakshmi, died on Sunday three days after she, along with her daughter and grand daughter, consumed poison at their residence in Surya Nagar.

The police said that Nagalakshmi’s daughter, B. Viji, head-constable attached to City Crime Branch, had given banana laced with some pills to her mother and her 14-year-old daughter on Sunday night.

While Viji’s son, Hari Subash, tried to prevent them, all the three had consumed it and subsequently, they fell unconscious.

They were rushed to a private hospital. However, Nagalakshmi died on Sunday.

The police suspect that some family dispute could have triggered Viji to take the extreme step.
