Woman booked for copying in exam using WhatsApp

The city police have booked a 26-year-old woman from Theni district on a charge of copying, using WhatsApp instant messaging application downloaded in her mobile phone, during an examination held recently by the State Council of Educational Research and Training here.

The woman has been booked under the provisions of Information Technology Act for computer-related offences and breach of confidentiality and privacy.

The police said the woman had taken photograph of the question paper and sent it to a friend and got answers from him through WhatsApp on September 17.

The invigilator, Rostella Suganthi, who noticed the malpractice, informed the supervisor and later lodged a complaint with Tallakulam police.

Tallakulam police are investigating.
