Alleging that the decision of Tamil Nadu government to allow candidates from other States to take part in Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) recruitments as a move towards erosion of State’s autonomy, Thirumurugan Gandhi, founder of May 17 Movement, demanded the State government to immediately repeal the decision.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the organisation’s public meeting here on Sunday, he said that candidates from Tamil Nadu already lacked opportunities in Central government jobs and TNPSC recruitments were one of the few remaining avenues for aspirants from the State to get government jobs.

Blaming the Tamil Nadu government for succumbing to the coercion of the BJP-led government at the Centre, he said instances such as the unprecedented review of State government’s work by Tamil Nadu Governor and attack on fishermen near Rameswaram by Indian Coast Guard were all moves of the Union government to suppress the rights of Tamils.

He added that BJP would never be allowed to come to power in Tamil Nadu despite various attempts being made by the party.

Stating that his organisation would continue to fight against the issues created by the State and Central governments, he, however, said that it did not plan to contest in elections or support any party during the elections.
