Minister for Cooperation and Madurai West MLA Sellur K. Raju dedicated a new facility for washermen in Bethaniapuram and opened a culvert connecting Pallavan Nagar with Fatima Nagar, all built at a cost of ₹12.80 lakh.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that following request from washermen, the roofed facility with adequate water for washing clothes had been established. It would held keep the environment clean as otherwise the washermen had been using Vaigai river or other waterbodies for washing clothes.Drinking water pipelines were being laid in Bethaniapuram at a cost of ₹27.50 lakh.
