Borderline cases up in recent past due to sedentary lifestyle
On account of World Diabetes Day, Novo Nordisk, a global healthcare company, organised a Global Diabetes Walk here on Wednesday. The walk which was also organised simultaneously in all the major cities was to create awareness among the public about the importance of walking, physical exercises and also about diabetes complications.
Close to 300 persons took part in the rally which was flagged off by N.Mohan, Dean, Government Rajaji Hospital, and noted Endocrinologist K.Kannan. The rally went through Anna Bus Stand and culminated at Madurai Medical College. The Dean said that walk alone can prevent borderline patients from diabetes as such cases of borderline have increased in the recent past due to sedentary lifestyle.
College students, nursing staff, diabetic patients and members of Walker Club participated in the walk. Dr.Kannan, A.J. Asirvatham, Head, Department of Diabetology, GRH, and E.Subbiah, Assistant Professor, Madurai Medical College, addressed the participants of a rally.
