The summer vacation for the Madras High Court Bench here from May 1 to 31 has been divided into four parts and two judges for each part have been deputed to act as vacation judges during the period to hear and dispose of “very urgent” matters.
While Justice P.N. Prakash (criminal cases) and Justice Pushpa Sathyanarayana (writ) would be the vacation judges for the first part from May 1 to May 10, Justices T.S. Sivagnanam (writ) and G. Chockalingam (criminal) would be in-charge from May 11 to 17.
The third part of the vacation period from May 18 to 24 and the fourth part from May 25 to 31 would be presided over by Justices T. Raja (writ) and V.S. Ravi (criminal) and Justices R. Mala (writ) and V.M. Velumani (criminal) respectively.
According to a notification issued by the High Court Registry, urgent cases could be filed on every Monday and Tuesday and they would be heard on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
“No plaint…will be received during the period unless it was accompanied by an application showing urgency,” the notification read.
