Rural self employment training centre of the Canara Bank has trained 1,020 unemployed youth in 28 different trades so far of which 515 persons established their own business centres in the district so far.
Distributing certificates to a group of trained youth at the institute here on Tuesday, Collector K. Nagarajan said that youth should utilise the training programmes effectively and enhance their income.
Such training will not only improve their living conditions but also enhance income generation activities in the rural areas.
Canara Bank Chief Manager A.V. Santhosh said that the training centre was offering various training courses including beautician course, embroidery, tailoring, aroma therapy for women and mobile phone service, television repair, computer hardware repair and manufacture of household items like soap, cleaning liquid, phenol, coir mat, doll making and paper cup making for both men and women.
In his special address, Lead Bank Manager Arjun Muthaiah said that advertisements would be given in newspapers on commencement of the training programme.
Youth should participate and make themselves employable.
The short term courses would help them specialise in a particular field well.
The Collector distributed certificates to 42 women who were trained at the institute as beauticians.
