Madurai Kamaraj University is preparing itself for reaccreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).
As per guidelines of the NAAC, the re-accredited institution must initiate institutional preparation during the sixth year itself after which the assessment process would begin. The outcome will be declared before the end of seventh year.
“We are preparing for the reaccreditation since five years of accreditation period was successfully completed. We are volunteering for reaccreditation,” M. Rajiakodi, Registrar in-charge, said in a press release here on Monday.
The five-year reaccreditation period for the university, which was given ‘A' grade in 2006, was over a couple of months ago and hence the university had to volunteer for reaccreditation. On NAAC guidelines, Dr. Rajiakodi said that the institutions that record their intent to volunteer for reaccreditation may continue to use the outcome of the first accreditation till the end of the two-year institutional preparation period or till reaccreditation outcome was declared, whichever was earlier.
A functional Internal Quality Assurance Cell and institutional website were the minimum institutional requirements to volunteer for NAAC reaccreditation.
The same seven criteria taken into account for assessment and accreditation would be followed for reaccreditation on the framework of five core values —contributing to national development, fostering global competencies among students, inculcating a value system among students, promoting use of technology, and quest for excellence.
