Two new courts inaugurated

A special court to deal with land grab cases and an additional mahila court were inaugurated in the District Court complex here on Friday by District Collector L. Subramanian and Principal District and Sessions Judge B. Gokul Doss.

Speaking at the function, Mr.Gokul Doss promised to take up the issue of construction of additional courts on the District Court premises with the authorities concerned for allotment of funds and also setting up of regular courts in Melur, Tirumangalam and Usilampatti, which are currently functioning as camp courts. He said judges should deliver judgements without fear or favour.

The Collector assured to do the needful to improve facilities at the court.

Pal Pandian has been appointed as the presiding officer of the special court while V. Irudayarani will preside over the additional mahila court.

All cases related to land grabbing now pending before Judicial Magistrate I will be transferred to the special court. Cases pertaining to offences against women from all judicial magistrate courts will be transferred to the additional mahila court.

The first case taken up at the special court was adjourned as both parties were absent.
