Two persons were killed and six others injured when a car in which they were travelling hit a container lorry from behind at Vadipatti in the early hours of Tuesday.
The deceased were identified as S. Murugesan (42) and R. Karthik (7).
The police suspect that the driver of the car had lost control of the vehicle around 5.30 a.m. and hit the container lorry on the Dindigul-Madurai highway. The container had fled the scene.
The family of Murugesan and his cousin Rajiv Gandhi were proceeding to Srivilliputtur from Coimbatore when the accident occurred. The injured have been admitted to a private hospital.
