Two killed in accident near Nanguneri

Two persons, including a 20-year-old youth, were killed in a road accident and four others injured near Nanguneri on Sunday.

Police said M. Mohamed Ismail (50) of Pettai near Tirunelveli was going to Aaththangarai Pallivaasal in a bike along with his wife Umar Fareeda (46) to offer prayers on Sunday afternoon. Mohamed Ismail’s relative M. Mohamed Gani (38), his wife Syed (34) and their son M. Shaik Mohamed (12) were following him in another two-wheeler.

As they reached Yemankulam on the Nanguneri – Thisaiyanvilai road, V. Sivasakthi (20) of Yemankulam, who was coming in the opposite direction in a two-wheeler at high speed, hit Mohamed Ismail’s bike fand Mr. Mohamd Gani’s.

While Sivasakthi was killed on the spot, Mohamed Ismail died on the way to the hospital.
