Two Class X girls consumed an “anti-lice” solution after their teacher asked them to bring their record notebooks which they claimed they had left at home, at Mooduvarpatti on Wednesday.

The police said the condition of the girls, admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital here, was stable. Palamedu police have picked up the lady teacher for questioning.

When the teacher at the Government High School at Mooduvarpatti asked all the students of her class to submit their practical record notebooks, the two students claimed that they had inadvertently left them at home.

The teacher asked them to go home and bring the record notebooks.

However, the police said the girls who left the school in the morning did not return to school till afternoon.

They went to the house of one of them and consumed the solution.

The parents rushed them to the hospital.
