A woman, who was rushing to a hospital after suffering heart attack, died in a freak accident sending shock waves on Tuesday.

The 50-year-old woman, identified as Vislakashi of Pykara Colony, had complained of chest pain around forenoon. On seeing her suffering, her son immediately helped her get inside their car and drove to the nearby hospital.

In a semi-conscious state, the woman had kept her hand clinging outside the door. As they were passing through a busy stretch, a tractor is said to have come closer to Visalakshi’s car in which her hand got cut off.

As the loss of her hand led to severe pain, her son, thinking that her chest pain had aggravated, was keen on driving fast to the hospital.

On arrival, when he attempted to help her get down, he was shocked to see blood splashed all over the door and the missing hand. The duty doctors and para-medical staff suggested to the youth to trace the missing hand.

Going in search of the hand, the youth finally located it lying on the road along Vasantha Nagar. However, when he returned to the hospital, bad news was waiting for him as his mother had breathed her last. The doctors cited heavy loss of blood as the reason.

Karimedu Traffic (investigation) police are on the lookout for the tractor driver and a case was registered.
