Once again, car thieves, who posed as tourists, attacked a Madurai-based cab driver and escaped in his car from Pattiveeranpatti near here on Thursday.
The affected person was driver M. Chinnan, of Indira Nagar in Madurai city and cab operator in Madurai Railway station.
Clad in jeans, three persons met him at Madurai railway station and hired his cab to go to Kodaikanal.
When he approached Kodaikanal ghat road, they advised him to go to Pattiveeranpatti to meet their relatives. He drove the vehicle through a short route to Pattiveeranpatti.
When the car was approaching Kannimar temple Odai area, they ordered him to stop the car at knife point. When the driver tried to shout, they attacked him, tied his legs and escaped in his car.
First, Chinnan went to Batlagundu police station in the early hours of Thursday as the station was just 100 metres away from the incident spot. But, the Batlagundu police took him to the spot around 10 a.m. They told him that the spot was not under their limits and advised him to go to Pattiveeranpatti police station.
When Chinnan lodged a complaint with the Pattiveeranpatti police station, they too initially refused to receive the complaint citing same reasons. In the evening, they registered a case.
