Three persons with suspected swine flu symptoms were admitted to the Government Rajaji Hospital here on Wednesday.
According to the GRH authorities, all the three were male who had fever and sore throat and as a precautionary step got admitted to the hospital.
The names of swine flu suspected persons cannot be disclosed by the hospitals from now on as per latest guidelines issued by the Government for A (H1N1) flu, hospital authorities said. While one person had complained of fever after his return from Pune, another person, who recently returned from a Gulf country, was from Ramanthapuram. The third fever-affected person was from Samanatham village in Madurai district.
S. M. Sivakumar, Dean in-charge, GRH, said that the three persons would be kept under close observation for 24 to 48 hours and discharged if there were no further symptoms.
As per the fresh guidelines on swine flu treatment, the hospitals should not collect any samples immediately for laboratory tests. "We have to wait for a couple of days and only then the samples can be sent," authorities said.
