Three people were injured in a car – lorry collision at Pamban Road Bridge on Friday.

Police said the new car, which was yet to be registered, was proceeding towards Pamban when the driver lost control and collided with a tipper lorry coming in the opposite direction after offloading construction materials at the memorial site of former president APJ Abdul Kalam.

Car driver Balamurugan (30), owner Rajkumar (35), both hailing from Pamban and lorry driver Soundarapandian (35) were injured, police said. The occupants of the car were wearing seat belts and the air balloons opened up coming to their rescue after the collision, police said. After given first aid, the injured were admitted to the Government district headquarters hospital, police added. Pamban police have registered a case and are investigating.
