Three killed in road accident

Three persons, who were travelling in a motorcycle, were killed on the spot in an accident on Theni-Periyakulam Main Road near Theni Aravind Hospital on Monday.

The deceased were P. Vinodh (18) and R. Pandi (19) of Allinagaram and workers in a mechanical shop here and their friend G. Mani (19), of Allinagaram and second year student of a private engineering college in Namakkal. All the three were going on the motorcycle to Theni from Allinagaram.

When rider Vinodh attempted to chase the lorry, he hit a woman pedestrian on the road and lost control. The bike skidded and slid into the rear wheel of the cotton seed-laden lorry. All the three persons were crushed to death, said the police.

The bodies were shifted to the Government Theni Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. Meanwhile, lorry driver Karuppaiah of Dombuserry surrendered before the police. A case has been registered.
