Three held for bomb explosions

January 03, 2015 09:45 am | Updated 09:45 am IST - TIRUNELVELI:

Kudankulam police have arrested three persons and are on the lookout for five more in connection with the recent explosions of country-made bombs near Kooththenkuzhi, which were viewed as attempts to terrorise the rival group.

The coastal village of Kooththenkuzhi has lost its peace due to rivalry between two groups, and members of these groups are often ‘testing’ country-made bombs and stockpiling them in the forest area close to the village.

While two bombs exploded on Christmas, six more bombs were hurled on New Year eve. Kudankulam police registered a case.

Investigations revealed that D. Rajesh (33), S. Angelo (24), S. Maria Innaci (30), A. Rodrigo (30), P. John Prakash (29), G. Antony Raja (25), M. Raju (38) and S. John Paul (30), all from Kooththenkuzhi, were behind these explosions.

The police nabbed Rajesh, Angelo and Maria Innaci on Thursday evening.
