For the 32,195 students, who passed the Plus Two examinations in the district this year, who wish to choose the right academic direction and destination, then all roads lead The Hindu Education Plus Career Counselling Fair 2013.

Scheduled to be held at Raja Muthiah Mandram at K.K. Nagar here on May 18 and open to all free of cost, the day-long fair promises to be one of the finest a student or a parent could expect. With speakers ranging from student motivators to a civil services exam topper, it is aimed at providing the students with the best of career guidance, be it in arts, engineering or civil services.

The event will be inaugurated by Collector Anshul Mishra at 10 am. It will be followed by a talk by A.N. Brijesh Nair of VIT University on ‘Opportunities in Engineering.’ Holder of a master’s degree as well as a doctorate in civil and environmental engineering from Arizona State University, he had worked in the United States for about a decade before joining VIT University.

Renowned career consultant and analyst Jayaprakash Gandhi will speak on ‘Career Guidance.’ A gold medallist from Anna University, he has conducted career guidance programmes in more than 3,000 schools and colleges across the country apart from holding 1,000 placement training programmes in top level engineering and management institutes.

T. Prabhu Shankar, a native of Madurai, who topped the Union Public Service Commission examinations this year by securing the All India 7 rank will address the participants in the post lunch session. He will share his experiences on cracking the civil services examinations and take questions from students aspiring to be civil servants.

The event will come to a close with an exclusive interactive session on the upcoming Anna University counselling for admission into engineering courses. While VIT University is the title sponsor of the fair, PSR Engineering College, Renganayagi Varatharaj College of Engineering and Vickram College of Engineering are the associate sponsors.

Einstein College of Engineering at Abishekapatti in Tirunelveli district, PSN College of Engineering and Technology at Melathediyur in Tirunelveli district, DAVAO Medical University, Ratnavel Subramaniam College of Engineering and Technology at Dindigul, PET Engineering College, Pandian Saraswathi Yadav Engineering College at Arasanoor in Sivaganga district and St. Michael Group of Institutions, Kalayarkovil are the co-sponsors. Suriyan FM 93.5 is the media partner.
