Tamil Nadu Commercial Tax Officers Association, Deputy and Assistant Commercial Tax Officers Association and Tamil Nadu Commercial Taxes Services Association members staged a protest in front of the office at Thangaraj Salai here on Tuesday during lunch-break pressing for a twenty-point charter of demands.

The protest was part of the State wide stir and was led by S. Arun Solomon, State President, of the Commercial Tax Officers Association and Association's divisional secretary, C.Rajagopalan, delivered the welcome address.

The demands include filling up of all the posts which are lying vacant, disciplinary proceedings should be completed and the promotions that were stopped for small transgressions should be given back after disciplinary action is completed.

Appointments made on consolidated pay and compassionate grounds should be given promotions and other benefits available to them. Junior Assistants, who have completed 10 years of service, should be given promotions and the department should be given all modern equipment and work management should be regularised.

More than 100 members, including 40 women, participated in the protest.
