In a bid to create awareness of the message of non-violence and other principles of Mahatma Gandhi, a 44-year-old man from Vijayawada began an attempt to create a world record by standing motionless in the posture of Mahatma Gandhi at the S. Vellaichamy Nadar College here on Monday.
“I want to raise awareness of the non-violent way of living that Mahatma Gandhi emphasised on. With increasing instances of violence on a day-to day basis, it is important that the youth know about the philosophy of Gandhi, which would bring peace,” said Akshinthala Seshu Babu, before he began to stand motionless for the record.
Mr. Akshinthala Babu donned silver paint, while being dressed like the Mahatma in Khadi and held a stick in his hand as a part of his record bid.
He will stand inside a glass enclosure and aim to create a Guinness World record by standing motionless for 35 hours at a stretch and began his attempt on Monday to mark the 66th Republic Day.
“While many around the world know Gandhi, they remain ignorant about his important principles and message of peace which I hope to make people aware of through the creation of this world record,” he said.
He has previously obtained certificates from the Record Holders Republic (India and UK) for standing motionless like Mahatma Gandhi for more than thirty hours.
